Relais Varnello is a farmhouse with arcades and an ancient wood-burning oven, situated in the gently rolling hills of Brisighella in the heart of Romagna, on an ancient Etruscan road a few Kms from Tuscany.
It is on the panoramic provincial road between Brisighella (3 Km.) and Riolo Terme (7 km.) and easily reachable from the motorway. The varied landscape offers spectacular quasi-lunar geological phenomena in the Chalk Vein of Monte Rontana, the green Carnè Nature Reserve, luxuriant vineyards producing Sangiovese wine, and silent olive groves which produce the famous "Brisighello" oil. In 1099 a defensive castle was built in the area , then in 1242 it became a Curia, then a Villa and Hospital.
